No, it’s not Jay-Z and nor is it Lil’ Wayne. This time it is Vince.

Yep, the New Jersey Nets star, Vince Carter and his mother will donate $1.6 million for the construction of the Vince Carter Sanctuary, a 100-bed treatment center for those with chemical addiction problems that will open next summer in Florida.

Carter and his mother made this decision after having to deal with Carter’s brother’s battle with addiction.

“If there’s something we can do to help them get their lives back on track, that would be wonderful,” Carter-Scott told NetsDaily.com of those who will be treated at the Sanctuary.

“[This is] something near and dear to me,” Carter added. “We all have family that go through tough times.”

Now this is reality, not what we see on TV. I’m sure all of us have dealt with addiction at some point and on some level. And while, most of us do not have millions of stacks at our disposal, what are we doing to help our brothers and sisters that have found themselves in such unfortunate situations? Lending a helping hand, offering an encouraging word, being a good example ourselves…or just going on with our business turning a blind eye to problem(s).

The CHANGE begins with you and me. Think about it.
