Saturday at 10pm, B.E.T. aired the final episode (farewell finale) of Rap City. Numerous celebs came out to bid farewell to the legendary show like 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Nas, LL Cool J, and many others.

The past and present hosts came out as well like Big Lez (which was my favorite), Prince DaJour, Joe Clair, Mad Linx, J-Nicks, Q45, and Big Tigger.

But what’s mind boggling is why did the show end! Several sources believe the economy could be the blame. They say several major advertisers pulled the plug on their B.E.T. endorsements because of low viewership and the excessive use of materialism, sex, and violence. This is one of the reasons why B.E.T. eventually cut the late-night video program, B.E.T. Uncut. But what most people don’t realize is that advertisers are the ones that “keep the lights on” at the networks.

When B.E.T. lost these major endorsers, it probably became financially difficult for the network to upkeep the production, salaries, etc on Rap City. Or it could be that the network and Debra Lee are just shifting gears a little bit. I’m sure the many complaints have put them in a position to either change or die out.
