Wednesday night, the Atlanta Film Festival held a private screening of the Oscar winning movie CRASH at the Landmark Midtown Theater. Atlanta’s own Ludacris, one of the actors in the movie, hosted the event. STACKS Magazine was on hand and found out a few interesting viewpoints of rapper Ludacris.

How far as a nation, we’ve come since the movie? (relating to President Obama’s election)

Luda: I’m a optimistic individual. But I’ve never knew that during my lifetime that I’d see a Black president of the United States. I’m very thankful and know that anything can happen. When you come out to support…anything your passionate about, the Presidency or laws. Like I’m doing something with the Census. It shows that there is strentgh in numbers. It opens up a whole new door.
A new law in Arizona will legalize racial profiling, do you think thats taking us two steps back or forward?
Luda: I will wait until that law is passed in Arizona to speak on that. Whether we want to admit it, it is something that we all think about but dont want to speak about. I appreciate the movie because when u capture something that real…and thats the one thing that’s so good about Crash …its a reality check. If Im so quick to judge certain individuals, I have to sit back and say when I’d usually do this, let me try to be fair as oppose in judging that individual.

The Q&A session lasted for about a hour. Many more questions were asked by the audience. But unfortunately, we had technical difficulties and couldn’t bring you the entire footage of the event.

But, Ludacris is definitely a smart man and is a prime example of how rappers shouldn’t be caged in a box. Artists, no matter what they look like, are diverse when it comes to their views on the world. We commend Mr. Bridges on his success and wish him many more blessings to come.
