Whitney Houston and Jordin Sparks are set to star in the remake of the 1976 classic “Sparkle”.  The film’s story line is based on the lives of three sisters who form a singing group called “Sister and the Sisters”. The Motown-era inspired film will follow the group as they deal with the ups and downs of fame. Whitney Houston plays the mother of the three girls.

Jordin Sparks revealed that her experience with Houston on set has been “very motherly”. She also expressed her gratitude to be acting alongside one of her favorite singers, “I sang her songs into a hairbrush when I was little,” says Sparks. “Now she’s acting as my mom and scolding me. It was a dream come true.”

The film is set to hit theaters on August 10.
