Completing a career Golden Slam and being only the second woman to do so, tennis star Serena Williams won her first singles Olympic gold medal by beating Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 in the women’s finals.

 

Throughout the match, Williams ruled the game with her serve, dominated the court with her baseline blasts and kept every stroke strong despite heavy winds. While it can said that Sharapova never gave up, it was obvious that Williams simply wasn’t giving in. She sealed the deal of her victory with her 10th ace of the match.
