Monday night, TV One premiered their new reality series R&B Divas.  The eight-episode show gave viewers the first glimpse into the lives of several of R&B music’s most beloved singers.  Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert-Daniels, Syleena Johnson, Monifah Carter, and KeKe Wyatt have all experienced the ups and the lows of the music business.  Now, having been off the scene for several years, we can now see what their day-to-day lives encompasses and what drama ensues.

Well, after Monday’s debut, it looks like TV One may have their first “reality tv” hit.  According to program ratings, R&B Divas garnered over 900, 000 viewers.  This is a huge deal for TV One.

Toni Judkins, TV One EVP of Programming and Production remarked, “We were confident in the quality of production and that the compelling storytelling deriving from the Divas’ willingness to present their lives so openly and honestly would result in an entertaining series. We’re pleased that the ratings reflect the viewers’ interest in and support of the show and TV One.”

Wonya Lucas, TV One President and CEO commented, “As TV One continues to invest in original programming that reflects the breadth and depth of true Black life, it is encouraging to see the strong viewer response to quality entertainment programming.”

Good job ladies!  After watching the first episode, it’s visible that the show will definitely be entertaining.  Can Faith, Monifah, Nicci, Syleena, and KeKe make a real comeback?  Time will tell.  But, hopefully the show can re-catapult them into limelight (long enough to make some extra cash and pursue other dreams).
