Thursday night, VH1 premiered Ice T’s Something To Nothing: The Art of Rap documentary. In what was originally released in theaters, the directorial-debut for Ice T took a turn to cable television…which was probably the best way to go anyway.

Something To Nothing: The Art of Rap explored the rap culture giving lyrical enthusiaists knowledge on how to rap. Throwing words together and making the rhyme does not show skill. However, there is a technique that most masters of the craft has successfully accomplished. On hand were Nas, Kanye West, Dr Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dougie Fresh, Redman, and a host of other emcees. Each spoke of the culture and how their environment helped stir their love of hip hop and decisions to rap as a career.
