As if losing Game 1 of the American League Championship wasn’t bad enough, the New York Yankees were dealt an even heavier blow when their five-time World Series champion captain, Derek Jeter, fell to the ground with a season ending injury.

It was the top of the 12th inning when in the midst of fielding a ground ball, Jeter’s left foot took a turn for the worse sending him to the ground. When Jeter didn’t get back up and continued staring at his leg, the team manager and trainer rushed to assist him. Shortly after he was helped off the field with the official announcement coming after the game that Jeter’s ankle was fractured and for him postseason was a wrap.

Definitely a foul on the play considering the asset Jeter is to the team and not to mention the high hopes the Yankees have of making it past this round for a shot at the World Series. A Rod where you at?????

We’ll see how things go for them but until then we’re wishing Derek Jeter a speedy recovery!
