Jay-Z is currently in the working stages on a new film.  Not as an actor, but instead providing his musical expertise by scoring the adaptation of The Great Gasby. Although the unofficial news came from the Twitter page of Jeymes Samuels of the Bullitts, it seems as though Jay was handpicked to lend his talents.

“Jay-Z and myself have been working tirelessly on the score for the upcoming #CLASSIC The Great Gatsby! It is too DOPE for words!”

During the making of the film, word on the street is that the director Baz Luhrmann played Jay-Z’s music on the set. Also, the film’s trailer incorporates Jay and Kanye’s “No Church in the Wild” during the first few scenes. Take a peep at the trailer below:

The Great Gasby was published in 1925 by author F. Scott Fitzgerald.  The story takes place in 1922 during the Roaring Twenties, the post World War 1 prosperous time in the United States.  The novel has been adapted several times over the years.

The Great Gasby is set to premier in theatres sometime in 2013.
