Florida-rapper Ace Hood recently hit up the Breakfast Club morning show while out on a promo run for his latest album.   The We The Best/Cash Money signee has been grinding in the industry since 2006.  During this time, he’s maintained his loyalty to his mentor DJ Khaled.  The two have worked on three studio-albums that has garnered Ace some decent recognition in the rap industry. In 2011, he won a BET award for Best Rap Remix for his chart-topping “Hustle Hard” remix which featured Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and DJ Khaled.  This year, he released his first to 40 hit “Bugatti” which soared up the radio charts and is one of the DJs favorites.

In his interview with The Breakfast Club, Ace Hood spoke on his new album “Trials and Tribulations” and his take on the Trayvon Martin situation being that he’s from Florida. He also spoke on his relationship with Def Jam and Cash Money Records and his treatment when it comes to getting paid by the label.

“No. Not no royalty check from like them [Cash Money Records]. Yeah, you get your little stuff from BMI or stuff like that. Yeah it’s a little early [to get royalty check]. I never got a check from them, not yet.”

When asked if he’s received at least an advance, Ace Hood says “that ain’t happen with me.”

Ace admits to being kicked out of his crib and being homeless at one point in his life. But, now that he’s making more money, he’s learned to be smarter with the financial choices he makes.

“I’m saving. My thing right now, being that I’m 25, I’m focused on investments. Buying property and stuff like that. Maybe Section 8 homes and let people renovating them and stuff.”
