Event Recap: Kadeem Hardison’s Directorial Debut ‘The Dark Party’ Hits Atlanta Ms. Bels Tuesday, July 30, 2013 Lights, Camera, Action, Script Xclusive, The Vault On Sunday, July 28, a select group of movie-goers had the opportunity to attend a private screening of The Dark Party at The Plaza Theatre. ‘The Dark Party’ stars A Different World’s collegiate-funny guy Kadeem Hardison, in which the film marked his official directorial debut. In conjunction with a nationwide roll-out of the film, Atlanta was one of the few selected cities to host a private screening. Having received good reviews during the American Black Film Festival, the independent film will soon become available via DVD for all film lovers to support and watch. The film is the story of Mike and Jeff, two friends who want to find true love. The two come to the conclusion that what you can’t see can hurt you as they look for love in all the wrong faces. With the aid of a talk radio psychologist Theo Radcliffe (aka DJ Dr. Love) they throw the ultimate blind date party that soon becomes a serious social experiment. Amid all the fun and games lurks a killer who’s dead set on eliminating one of the players. In addition to Kadeem Hardison, the film stars Marcus Patrick, Eric Payne, Iva La’Shawn, Tiffany Hines, Daryl M. Bell (“A Different World”) and many others. The film is executive produced by Salenta Baisden and produced by William Wells and Terry Wilkerson. Also, producer Deji LaRay and Alex Lehmann, director of photography, were responsible for creating the digitally mastered film that features a musical underscore by Edward Baisden, Jr. and Asi Friedman with songs written and performed by Niles Rivers.
