Today was a good day for O.J. Simpson.  After pleading for an early parole, the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners finally granted the former football superstar his wishes. Although this parole judgment didn’t end his sentence completely, the board did shave off time for two counts of kidnapping, two counts of robbery, and one count of burglary.

Attorneys for O.J. now suspect that he will be released in 2017. O.J. will be 70 years old at the time and considered a helpless man at that point. Before the final parole decision was confirmed, the board took into account his positive nature and completion of various behavioral programs while being incarcerated.

O.J. Simpson is also fighting for a new trial. He claims that his former lawyer, Yale Galanter, provided bad and unethical services during his initial trial.

He is still awaiting a decision on that request.
