Percy “Master P” Miller recently accompanied his beautiful daughter to Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club.  While there to formally introduce Cymphonique, the music mogul discussed the current state of No Limit Records Forever and his artists (Alley Boy and Fat Trel).

One thing he has always been is connected to the streets. Having found success beyond what the average young black man are capable of, Master P now uses his life lessons and business know-how to help educate the new generation. With music being his first love, Master P is very well knowledgeable on the topic and uses every opportunity to help artists make the right decisions when signing deals.

During this interview with DJ Envy, Charlamagne, and Angela Yee, Master P warned artists about signing 360 deals and strongly advises against it.

“I don’t think so. I don’t think anybody have a enough product and enough artist to do that. And they [major labels] already seen it happen so…I don’t think they’re going to do that. They are going to tie them to a 360 deal as soon as they walk in the door. As soon as you get a hit record…because most people in the business right now for fame. I have people walk up to me like “man, look…here go my record. I don’t want no money. I just want to blow up.”  I’m saying, when you blow up then what. Most of them 360 deals, once you blow up it start hurting in a minute.

So I’m living off what I did 20 years ago.”

From the start of his career, Master P has always incorporated “hustle” into the way he strategizes.  He was one of the first artists to constantly feed the streets with product by releasing albums once a week.  This tactic is what set him apart from other artist and helped No Limit Records reach the level of success that it did.

“Yes, it definitely was. Being from the streets, you got to get it while the getting is good. I think people don’t understand that. You’re not going to be hot forever. Fame come and go. So, when you get it, you better do what you need to do and punish this game. ‘Cause next week they’ll be looking for somebody else. Especially in this age of time right now, it’s like disposable bottles. As soon as you’ll get one single, that artist is over the next year.”
