Jackson Jr. and his wife arrive in court for their sentencing hearing in Washington

 

Jessie Jackson Jr. and wife Sandi Jackson arrived at the United States District Court in D.C. on Wednesday, August 15th, and sentenced for mishandling campaign funds. Jessie Jackson Jr. received 30 months in prison for spending $750,000 from his campaign for personal uses. Jackson Jr. was a well-known Democratic congressman and son of Civil Rights icon Jessie Jackson Sr. Wife, Sandi Jackson was sentenced to 12 months in prison for omitting over $500,000 in income from the couples tax returns. The couple will serve separate terms per judgment of the court to raise the couples 2 younger children ages 9 & 13. The NY Times reported that Jackson wept in front of the court and family as he asked for forgiveness and accepted responsibilities for his actions.
