Lil_Wayne_Dedication_5-front-large

The fifth installment in Lil Wayne’s Dedication mixtape series is finally here.  One of the most anticipated projects of the year, made its way to the internet yesterday.  However, the opinions of Wayne’s mixtape has been mixed.  While some believe the New Orleans emcee has lost his way, the die hard fans think he is still one of the best to ever do it.  But, the content is lacking – many critics believe. His constant talk about sex and p***y and the usage of uncomplicated metaphors (during a time when lyricism is back in the forefront), simply, is not reflective of growth.

Honestly, in my opinion, Lil Wayne has made his mark in music. He’s shown many rappers how to remain relevant in the music business for years. From the image changes to his highly successful The Carter albums, Weezy has proven what he can do. Now, he’s in a place where he can sit back and watch his artists generate income for him. That’s a nice place to be in.

So, does Wayne really need to work that hard and/or continue to prove that he can rap?  Not really.
