Converse X DTLR Presents 16 Bars a Freestyle Competition_iczmL_480__scale_width

DTLR and Converse has joined forces to present a once in a lifetime opportunity to aspiring rappers.  DTLR locations surrounding the east coast are hosting freestyle battle competitions in search for the next hip hop star. The contestants will each battle for a chance to win a one-single recording session at the Converse Rubber Tracks studio in New York.  Battle MCs who are hungry for their big break are all welcome to showcase their talents (women and men).

The competition kicked off on October 25 at Security Square Mall in Baltimore, Maryland. Next stop was in Atlanta at DTLR’s Camp Creek location. It was there that STACKS Magazine was on deck to witness the artistry first hand. Over 50 young men and women attended the event. Hot 107.9 FM’s Beestroh and female DJ Sweetbox Jones hosted the battle competition.  Each contestant got the opportunity spit their hottest 16 bars in hopes of moving on to the next round of the competition.

After several rounds, the Atlanta competition ended up with three final contestants. They all gave it their best shot but in the end there could only be one winner. An unknown rapper by the name of “Roy” killed the competition and is on his way to New York to compete against the other winners from the five participating cities.
