The Recording Academy and Hyundai Motors Corp are partnering again this year to honor unknown artists. The award is part of the Recording Academy’s Grammy U program, a college-oriented program that is implemented on campuses across the U.S. This is the fifth year of Grammy U and this year it’s getting a boost by awarding talented students on a grand scale.

Through the GrammyUAmplifier.com website, artists can submit their music for a chance to win a recording session and spot on an popular music tour or music festival. The contestants music will be judge by some of the today’s talented new stars. Judges confirmed are Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, Robert Glasper, and Hunter Hayes. The panel will sort through all of the submissions and choose their top three contestants basing their decision on various criteria like quality of music and social media popularity.

Anyone over 13 years of age can enter into the contest. But, since this is an initiative to get students and universities to push for more music majors, Grammy and Hyundai prefer college students to apply.

In 2012, Grammy U awarded three talented artist/groups. Each where given three separate awards. Gentlemen Hall (major live performance opening spot), Phillip Magnus Hartley (studio session w/Grammy producer), and Barneby Saints (music video by a noted director).  To view each of their projects, go to www.grammyuamplifier.com/app/winners .

The sad part is that the winner is not presented the awards during the actual Grammys show. However, the winner is televised several days before the awards show on January 26.

No matter what this is still a good look!
