It is always a pleasure to see people, especially young Black men, doing their part in the community. We often times hear about their shortcomings or issues in the media. But, we hardly ever see any press announcements about the good that they do.

This Thanksgiving, several of our favorite rappers went back to where it all started to show a little gratitude. In Atlanta, T.I. handed out turkeys (and other food items) to the city’s Westside community. The “give back” event was held at the Adamsville Recreation Center. Not too far from the Harris clan, Jeezy took a different approach this year for Thanksgiving. Normally he would load a truck up full of turkeys and head over to the 4th ward area to hand them out to the less fortunate. But, this year he teamed up with Shanti Das over at the Atlanta Mission, and prepared meals for the people at the shelter.

Meek Mill took the opportunity to show his homeland of Philadelphia some major love. This was his first annual ‘Dreamchaser’s Thanksgiving’. The event turn out was great and Meek was elated to know that he could do a small part for one of Philly’s areas (North Philly).

“I show love back for the support they’ve given me, but you know this is like one of the easiest things we do during the day like turkeys and food and nothing involved. When it’s big, it’s about showing the kids you can come from nothing and become something, they can be in my position and help give back to the community anytime,” Mill said.

Big Sean and Mike Epps joined forces to give their hometown citizens.  Since Big Sean’s start in the rap game, he’s always shown his appreciation to Detriot with free concerts, holiday give-backs, etc. So, he’s no stranger to it. The essence of being a stand-up guy lies definitely inside of Big Sean.

Countless other celebrities made the most of their holiday time this year. Kudos to everyone that acted unselfishly by supporting a cause or being the driving force behind your own “give-back” initiative.
