NFL: New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers

 

Quarterback Cam Newton threw a 14-yard touchdown to Wide Receiver Domenik Hixon with 23 seconds remaining to lead the Carolina Panthers to a 17-13 win over the New Orleans Saints. The Panthers improve to 11-4 and have a one game lead over the New Orleans Saints in the NFC South division. If the Panthers win their final game next week, they will receive a first-round bye in the playoffs. Newton threw for 181 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Saints Quarterback Drew Brees threw for 281 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. The Saints are now 10-5, have lost five out of their last six games and can still clinch a playoff berth if the Arizona Cardinals lose another game.

The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Washington Redskins 24-23 to improve to 8-7. Cowboys Running Back DeMarco Murray caught a 10 yard touchdown pass from Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo with 1:08 remaining to take the lead for good. Romo threw for 226 yards, 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Murray led the Cowboys in rushing with 96 yards and had one rushing and one receiving touchdown. Redskins Rookie Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw for 197 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. The Redskins are now 3-12. If the Cowboys defeat the Philadelphia Eagles next week, they will win the NFC East division and make the playoffs.
