BPTW-Winners-Badge

Each year, analysts or marketing firms conduct surveys to find out who’s the best-of-the-best. One of the most interesting lists are the one’s that showcase corporation ratings. We hear about disgruntle employees who are not pleased with their workplace. But, what about the companies that do a great job at keeping up employee moral? Or companies have great benefit packages, diversity groups, salaries, etc. These stories are few and far between. But, they do exist.

The popular career website, Glass Door, recently published an article listing their Top 50 Best Places To Work.  Surprisingly, the list showcases a rise of tech companies becoming more likable by job seekers and current employees. The older companies that specializes in utilities, telecommunications, food, and other industries are no longer the top choices. The Generation X and Millenials are more progressive in thought and, thus, expect their employer to welcome innovation and creative ways to do business. The days of working in the good ole boy environments are over.

Glass Doors’ list shows that social media companies, for example, are most enjoyed.

Twitter ranked #2

LinkedIn ranked #3

Facebook ranked #5

The reviews submitted by Glass Door members all state that these companies contain individuals that truly care about the job. With social media being a big part of our generation, it is easy to see why employees would love their careers.  When you think of social media, you think of excitement, newsworthy, fun, etc. Managing a product (app) like this takes a team that has to enjoy pop culture, innovation, and is young at heart.  If everyone at the company (from the top execs on down) is equipped with these traits, then of course these components combined would make for a great place to work.
