Recently, an ABC correspondent traveled to Canal Street (in New York City) to dive into the world of counterfeit handbags.  This is big business and it has changed over the years when it comes to pricing. Back in the day, a person could cop a fake Gucci handbag for about $30-$40. Nowadays, ABC says the dealers on Canal St., in particular, have raised the stakes and are now charging anywhere up to $1,000 for a bag. These high priced knock-offs are called “superfakes”.

True enough, it is difficult at times to determine if a handbag is real or not. In order to guarantee the authentication of your next handbag, best thing to do is buy it at the actual designer store (i.e. Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Hermes, Chanel, etc).

What are your thoughts about the “superfakes”?  Are the dealers charging WAY too much for the counterfeit handbags?
