Media mogul, Oprah Winfrey, will soon close the doors to her beloved Harpo Studios in Chicago, IL.  The 3.5 acre campus, which serves as the workplace for 200 employees, will be sold to new owners.

Harpo Studio’s rep told Crain’s Chicago Business, “”We have entered into a purchasing agreement with Sterling Bay for the four-building Harpo Studios campus in Chicago’s West Loop. We expect the transaction to be closed in 30 days. The property will be leased back to Harpo for two years and the studio will continue to produce programming for OWN.”

The property will be sold for approximately $32 million.

Harpo Studios is the birthplace of “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. After 21 years of production, the show aired it’s final episode and made way for Oprah’s departure. In 2011, Oprah Winfrey started the OWN Network.
