With the latest buzz of hip-hop beef among female rappers, “sisterhood” in hip-hop is the last thing that comes to mind. Can five female up-and-coming emcees support and collaborate with one another in order to make their dreams a reality?

Grammy-Award winning recording artist and King of the South, T.I., serves as Executive Producer of a new docu-series following five female emcees as they establish their own paths in a typically male-dominated genre. The powerful and uplifting series follows the next generation of female hip-hop artists – openly gay Siya, Timbaland mentee Nyemiah Supreme, former Crime Mob member Diamond, Miami-bred rapper Brianna Perry and Pharrell signee Bia – as they transition towards becoming their own while managing a sisterhood.

Lil Jon, Pharrell Williams, Eve, Tank and Rick Ross, will all make appearances during the season of the series. Discovered and mentored by hip-hop icons, these artistic and go-getting women are making it happen and breaking restrictions.

“We’re providing a platform for them, and if they’re dope enough, they will open doors for others and also be the exception,” says T.I., who is a mentor to a young woman coming up in the business; Iggy Azalea. “All of them are overcoming stereotypes and overcoming the assumptions that come with being a female emcee in a male-dominated industry.”

“Sisterhood of Hip Hop” is not the typical competition series like “So You Think You Can Be….”. The show primarily focusing on the women’s individual journeys in the business, with family and in relationships.

Viewers don’t have to be hip-hop fans to enjoy. People want to see average individual’s battles and victories, which will maintain and add viewers that will continue to tune in. Tonight’s premiere of #SisterHoodOfHipHop was a top trending hash tag and has received raving reviews on Twitter and Instagram.

“SisterHood of Hip Hop’s” next episode will air Tuesday, August 19th at 9pme/8c on the Oxygen Network.
