Who’s Lying? Eric Bellinger Says He “Quincy Jones’d” Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda”; She Denies It

This week, more spotlight shined on Nicki Minaj’s upcoming single, “Anaconda.”  Besides her rear-end being the focal point of the song’s promo cover, it seems like there’s a big disconnect behind-the-scenes about who actually took part in the it’s production.

Eric Bellinger, a 24-year-old singer/songrwiter/producer, has numerous hits under his belt from the likes of Chris Brown, Trey Songz, Beyonce, Usher, and more.  So although he is young, he’s very talented and highly respected in the business. Recently, however, he got a bit of backlash from Nicki Minaj herself about his “production credit” he say he deserves.

Nicki took to social media to blast Bellinger saying that he did not partake in the creation of “Anaconda”. She specified that only Polow Da Don and Da Internz produced the track. Bellinger, on the other hand, says that’s a lie.

In a recent interview with MTV News, Bellinger says that he was actually brought in at the tail end of the project to give the song its finishing touches.

“Most people don’t look to me as a producer; they look to me as a songwriter,” Bellinger said. “I think Da Internz, they trusted my veteran ear. Polow da Don had the idea; [then] brought it to Da Internz; Da Internz called me in, and then we kinda just [were] vibing it out with suggestions and opinions and placements and arranging it. I kinda played a Quincy Jones in the situation, almost. Every step of the way, me and Kosine [of Da Internz] were piggybacking off ideas.”

According to this statement, nicki Minaj may not have been aware that Bellinger worked on the song with Da Internz. This could be why she blasted him. But, its hard to not know who all worked on a project. So, was there a bit of mis-communication somewhere in the production process? Or nah?

We’ve seen this happen many times before with individuals not getting their proper credit. Case in point, Ne-Yo. Remember when he had to publicly let it be known that he wrote (or co-wrote) Beyonce’s “Irreplaceable”?? This happens all the time in the music business. But, the right thing to do is just give people their credit.

Hopefully, the two of them and/or the labels can hash this out so the song can be released! The fans are patiently waiting for “Anaconda!”

Last week, Eric Bellinger dropped the visuals to “Kiss Goodnight”, which was directed by renowned photographer Mike Ho.  The song features Kid Ink and it pays homage to 90’s R&B group Blackstreet with the sample of their hit “Before I Let You Go.”

“Kiss Goodnight” can be found on Bellinger’s album The ReBirth available on iTunes !
