The San Francisco Giants scored three runs in the first inning to defeat the Kansas City Royals 7-1 in Game One of the World Series. Giants Right Fielder Hunter Pence was 2 for 3 with a two-run Home Run. Giants Pitcher Madison Bumgarner got the win after pitching 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and giving up 1 run. Giants Center Fielder Gregor Blanco was 1 for 3 with 2 runs and 1 RBI.

Royals Catcher Salvador Perez hit a Home Run in the 7th inning against Bumgarner. Royals Pitcher James Shields earned the lost after pitching 3 innings, allowing 7 hits and giving up 5 runs.

The Royals have been the hottest team in the baseball since the playoffs started. The Royals swept the Anaheim Angels 3-0 in the American League Division Series and swept the Baltimore Orioles 4-0 in the American League Championship Series. The Giants dominated this game on both sides of the field from start to finish and can steal home-field advantage from the Royals if they win game two. Games 3-5 will be played in San Francisco and the Giants can possibly win the World Series at home.
