Turner Broadcasting to Eliminate 1,475 Jobs

Reports recently announced that Turner Broadcasting, the parent of the CNN, TBS and TNT networks, will be eliminating about 1,475 jobs.

Founded by Ted Turner, Turner Broadcasting has struggled to compete against cable news rivals like Fox News and MSNBC. The lack of strategy in their programming plans has reduced their viewership, which many believe can be solved by the creation of original programming.

The company offered voluntary buyouts to 600 veteran employees back in August. The additional eliminations will affect 18 locations that include positions in the entertainment, sports, news, and corporate areas. Out of the 1,475 employees, 975 of the job loses will come from Atlanta.
