Uber Launches Pooling Service, Cab Industry Continues to Plunge

Uber has become the hot new thing for drivers who prefer to take a break every now and then.  The car service company, which allows people to call up a ride from just about any location, is now offered in most U.S. cities. The whole idea of every day people having the ability to make money using their own cars as a taxi is what made Uber become so popular. Now, the company plans to launch another service that is sure to make riders even happier.

UberPool, which is the official name, will allow riders to ride with strangers and split the fare among themselves.

Although UberPool has started in Paris and San Francisco. In San Francisco, riders have complained that car-pooling has increased their destination arrival times by five minutes. But, if you consider the cost saving, UberPool provides a must more worthy benefit. However, to help with the timeliness concerns, Uber insists that users will be matched appropriately based on their pick-up and drop off locations. If someone is too far out, they will not be matched.

The old school yellow cab way of hitching a ride is becoming extinct. Reports has previously stated that the cab industry has seen a substantial dive in revenue due to the emergence of Uber and other app-based cab services.
