Hawks Al Horford Named NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Atlanta Hawks Center Al Horford was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played January 12 through January 18. Horford averaged 21.7 points, 8 rebounds, 6.3 assists and shot a amazing 84.4% from the field. Horford led the Hawks to a 4-0 record with wins against Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, and Chicago Bulls. All four victories came on the road and the Hawks are currently on a 13 game winning streak.

Horford best game was his triple-double he posted with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 105-87 victory against the 76ers. Horford shot a perfect 8 out of 8 from the field, scoring 22 points, grabbing 5 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists in 110-89 win against the Raptors. In a 107-99 win against the Bulls, Horford had 22 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The Hawks were able to defeat the Raptors the first time this season, the Hawks had lost the previous two meetings. The Raptors had the best record in the East for a while, until the Hawks took over the best record in the East.

Horford has won two Player of the Week honors this season and he won the first one back in December. The Hawks keep winning and having different players and even their coach winning honors this season. If Horford can continue to stay healthy, the Hawks should keep winning and he should win at least one more Player of the Week before the season ends.
