Hawks Jeff Teague Wins NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Atlanta Hawks Guard Jeff Teague was named the NBA Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played December 29 through January 4. Teague led the Hawks to a 3-0 record with wins against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz, and Portland Trail Blazers. Teague averaged 23.7 points a Eastern Conference best, 8.3 assists, 4 rebounds, 2.67 steals per game and shot 54% from the field. Teague had his best game of the week with 23 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds and 3 steals in a 109-101 win against the Cavs.

Teague put up 26 points, 8 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals in a 98-92 victory against the Jazz. In a 115-107 victory against Portland Teague scored 22 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Teague is currently averaging a career-high 17.3 points, 7 assists, career-high 2.7 rebounds, career-high 1.7 steals and shooting a career-high 48.2% from the field. Teague 7.0 apg is 10th best in the league and his 1.7 spg is 11th best in the league.

Teague has a good chance of being selected to play in his first NBA All-Star Game next month and is becoming one of the elite point-guards in the NBA. Teague is the second Hawks player to win this award in the last three weeks, Al Horford won it two weeks ago.
