In its opening weekend, Furious 7 knocked all competition out the box, becoming one of the 10 biggest U.S. openings of all time. Furious 7 grossed over $143.6 million at the box office. One cast member who is elated by the film’s huge accomplishment is rapper-actor, Ludacris.

While on a promo run for Furious 7 and his seventh album Ludaversal, Ludacris stopped by “Larry King Now” to exchange dialogue about his latest projects.

During the interview, Ludacris expressed his discomfort with the recent jokes about Paul Walker at Comedy Central’s Roast of Justin Bieber. Also, he expressed how Paul Walker’s death affected production and the cast members.

“This movie almost didn’t see the light of day. And with that being said, we didn’t know what was going to happen. But we were able to come together as a unit. Everybody that knew him – kinda like we got through it together. And from there we came up with a very creative way to end this movie and we felt that we needed to honor him and pay homage to him. And that’s exactly what we did.”

As for Ludaversal, the Grammy award-winning hip-hop artist says that one of his most personal songs on the album is the one about his father. He says that it was difficult for him to share this well-kept secret on the album.

“I have another song that’s dedicated to my father who was an alcoholic and he died from alcoholism. And it was very hard for me to talk about this. However, I realized that there are so many other people that may be going through the same thing with individuals in their family that have an alcohol problem. And I just wanted to relay to them that not only should you get them help, because they have to want to help themselves, but you also have to tell them you love them because you don’t know how long they’re going to be on this earth.”

There’s also one unexpected tidbit fans may not know about Ludacris. He tells Larry King that out of all the luxury vehicles he has owned – or has access to – the Ford GT is his all-time favorite.
