The hoopla surrounding Dr. Dre’s billionaire status was the talk of social media in 2014. As we know now, that $3 billion deal left the Aftermath Records CEO a little short.

According to Forbes, Dr. Dre didn’t take into account the taxes that had to be paid on $3 billion. With his stake of 25%, Dr. Dre’s total net worth ($700 million) landed him in the No. 2 spot on this year’s Hip Hop’s Wealthiest Artists list. As noted, Dr. Dre proved that one good investment could be very lucrative. However, for moguls such as P. Diddy, having a diverse portfolio gives you more opportunities to make money.

At No. 1, Diddy has a total net worth of $735 million. He made his millions off of his stake in Diageo’s Ciroc, Sean John, Enyce, Aquahydrate water, a new tequilla called DeLeon, and Revolt.  Coming in at the remaining three spots were Jay Z ($550 million), 50 Cent ($155 million), and Birdman ($150 million).
