Paul Millsap

Forward Paul Millsap agreed to a three-year deal for $58 million to stay with the Atlanta Hawks. The Orlando Magic offered Millsap a four-year deal worth $80 million. Millsap spent the last two seasons in Atlanta and has appeared in the NBA All-Star Game both years. Millsap is the Hawks best scorer, led the team in rebounds and steals last season. Bringing Millsap back should have been the Hawks number one priority.

The Hawks did acquire center Tiago Splitter from the San Antonio Spurs in a trade. The Hawks did lose starting Small Forward DeMarre Carroll to Toronto Raptors. Carroll signed a four-year contract worth $60 million. The Hawks will need to find a new starting small forward to replace Carroll. Kyle Korver can replace Carroll in the starting lineup and newly acquired Tim Hardaway Jr. can take Korver starting shooting guard spot.

Tiago Splitter

Hardaway Jr. was supposed to provide a spark off the bench for the Hawks and from the looks of it will see more playing time now. Splitter gives the Hawks a legit center, Splitter is 6’11 and 245 lbs. Splitter averaged 8.2 points and 4.8 rebounds in 19.8 minutes a game last season. The Hawks did gain a big man and Splitter usually averages over 10 points a game when he receives more playing time. If the Hawks can replace Carroll they have a good chance of returning to the Eastern Conference Finals again next season.
