Josh Smith and the Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement for an one-year deal for $1.5 million. On the court, Smith will bring the power and small forward position and give the Clippers a reliable forward coming off the bench. Smith averaged 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists for the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets last season. Smith appeared in 55 games for the Rockets after being released by the Pistons last year.

Smith gives the Clippers another player that can create his own shot, something the Clippers have been missing. Smith is a two-way player that provides offense and defense. Smith does has his critics though, he is known to take bad shots, is a bad free throw shooter and has been known to cause chemistry issues in the locker room. Since he left the Atlanta Hawks after the 2013 season ended, this will be Smith fourth team in three years.

Smith was one of the best all-around players in the league while playing in Atlanta. In 2012-13 his final season with the Hawks, Smith averaged 17.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.2 assists. Smith first and only full season in Detroit he put up similar numbers after agreeing to a four-year deal, his numbers dropped a lot his second season and he was cut the by Pistons after they decided to move in a different direction.

The Clippers are definitely one of the top four teams in the Western Conference now. The Clippers could make it to the Western Conference Finals if Smith can be a good teammate, learn how to make his free throws, and listen to head coach Doc Rivers.
