What hip-hop’s been waiting for…

A new project from rapper Lil Wayne was released this past Friday. The “Free Weezy Album” dropped exclusively on the Jay Z’s Tidal streaming service. Whether being on Tidal added to the fanfare or not, that’s questionable. But, the fact that Lil Wayne completed a decent album is hype enough.

For 15-songs, Lil Wayne’s classic delivery is accompanied by various production choices. This is a sigh of relief for fans who wasn’t feeling Lil Wayne’s rock and roll phase. On FWA, he worked with producers Infamous, Ohnel, T@, London, and some more new cats. For collaborations, Lil Wayne decided to include tracks with Young Jeezy, Wiz Khalifa, Cory Gunz, Junior Reid, Bibi Bourelly, and others. Free Weezy Album is not his best work, but the variety of music on the project makes it well-worth the listen.

Too bad Tidal couldn’t keep it “exclusive” for too long. Fans can now download the album pretty much anywhere. Hopefully, this doesn’t tamper with Lil Wayne’s coins.
