Carlos Hyde rushed for 168 yards on 25 carries to go along with 2 catches for 14 yards and had two rushing touchdowns. This was Hyde first game starting in his two-year NFL career. Hyde averaged an impressive 6.5 yards a carry in the San Francisco 49ers 20-3 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Hyde appeared in 14 games last season, rushed for 333 yards and had four rushing touchdowns as a Rookie.

Hyde had the type of game that most running backs including veterans would envy. The Vikings do not have a good defense, however not many players can perform like this their first time starting. Hyde had a breakout game during Monday Night Football and put the rest of the NFL on notice that he is capable of being a starting running back in the league.

Running Back Frank Gore led the 49ers rushing attack for the last 10 years and signed with the Indianapolis Colts in the offseason. If Hyde continues to have 100-yard rushing games, Gore will become an afterthought and the 49ers will have their running back of the future.
