Blake Bortles is entering his second year as the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars and should have a breakout season this year. Bortles threw for 461 yards, 1 touchdown, no interceptions and completed 65% of his passes this preseason in three starts. Bortles looked good in the preseason, his decision making and throwing mechanics looked better. In 14 games, Bortles only threw for 2,908 yards, 11 touchdown and 17 interceptions in his Rookie season.

Bortles rushed for 419 yards averaging 7.5 yards a carry and finished second on the team in rushing last season. Bortles was sacked 55 times last season and sacked more than any QB in the league. The Jaguars drafted an offensive lineman in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft and signed free agent tight end Julius Thomas. Thomas had 43 catches for 489 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Denver Broncos in 13 games last season. In 14 games in the 2013 season, Thomas had 65 catches for 788 yards and 12 touchdowns. Thomas was the first tight end to have 12 touchdowns or more in consecutive seasons and could become Bortles favorite target.

Bortles biggest issues last season was his offensive line, running game and not having an elite wide receiver or tight end. The Jaguars selected University of Alabama standout T.J. Yeldon in the second round of this year’s draft. Yeldon gives Bortles and the Jaguars a running back that can possibly carry the team. Yeldon could start the first game of the season for the Jags and if not he should be their starting RB by the end of his Rookie season.

Wide Receiver Allen Robinson is entering his second year after having 48 catches for 548 yards and 2 touchdowns in 10 games last season for the Jags. Bortles has the tools to succeed and make the Jags better this season. The Jags went 3-13 last season and have a chance of winning at least six games this year. The Jags selected Bortles with the third pick in the 2014 NFL Draft and Bortles has the opportunity to become a franchise QB that the Jags were looking for.
