At the 2015 VMA’s on Sunday (Aug. 30), Kanye West said the unthinkable. During his speech to receive the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award, he stated he will “run for president of the United States in 2020.” Well, the White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest responded to Mr. West saying he looks “forward to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.”

Earnest’s statement was given while he traveled aboard Air Force One with President Barack Obama on Monday (Aug. 31) during an Associated Press interview.

West’s outlandish stunt or serious political stance stirred a lot of political and social media debate across the country and some people took to twitter saying:

“Kanye 2020 will have by far the best ropeline music in presidential history.”

“Mr West!!!”

On USWeekly.com comments board, SimplyShowbiz.com, said:

“I think it’s wonderful that someone with special needs has such confidence.”

Of course Mr. West has high hopes for himself and his wife Kim Kardashian to be in the White House because he stated him and Mrs. West are more “influential” than President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama back in 2013.

“There’s no way Kim Kardashian shouldn’t be on the cover of Vogue. She’s like the most intriguing woman right now. Collectively, we’re the most influential with clothing. No one is looking at what [President Obama] is wearing. Michelle Obama cannot Instagram a pic like what my girl Instagrammed the other day.”
