Is YouTube on its way to becoming the next Netflix and Pandora combined?  It sure sounds like it!

YouTube announced on Wednesday their new service, RED.  The service will allow YouTube lovers to view ad-free videos, original programming and stream music. For $10-a-month, subscribers will get the ultimate YouTube experience, which many have been waiting on for some time now.

The service will officially launch on October 28th. YouTube Music is also on its way later this year. RED will allow videos to play audio only and stream your favorite music videos.

Original content (or series) will vary in length, but do expect feature-length movies from various YouTube stars. One of which will be the Fine Brothers and they are creating a scripted 10-episode series about a singing competition called “Sing It.”

With this expansion, YouTube is on the road to becoming the next major platform that offers movies and original content. There are thousands of content creators on YouTube who offer comedy, drama, how-to’s, etc. So, this business move makes much sense, especially to the millions of people who go to YouTube every day.
