As did with Michael Jackson and so many other greats, Prince record sales has skyrocketed since his untimely death.

According to Billboard, The Very Best of Prince and the Purple Rain soundtrack have both reappeared on the Billboard 200 chart. The Very Best of Prince sold and estimated 179,000 last week, with 100,000 units sold in traditional form and 79,000 in streaming. The Purple Rain soundtrack sold 69,000 units, with 63,000 in traditional album sales. Prince’s The Hits/The B-Sides also landed in the no. 6 spot on the charts with 41,000 units sold. This totals about 256,000 records since his death.

As previously reported, Prince was found dead in his Paisley Park studio last Thursday. His cause of death is unknown, but autopsy and toxicology test results are expected to be revealed within two weeks.

It is being reported that the iconic musician’s family held a private memorial service at Paisley Park. Prince’s body has been cremated.
