Disney’s “The Jungle Book” shot to the top of the box office charts with a weekend opening of $136.1 million globally. In the U.S. and Canada, the film opened with $103.6 million. As one of the biggest April debuts ever at the box office, the updated version of the 1967 animated film is just one of several Disney classic’s that has become loved by theater-goers. Disney’s “Cruella De Ville,” “Peter Pan,” and “Beauty and the Beast” are up next.

 

As for Ice Cube’s “Barbershop: The Next Cut,” it didn’t fare at least 20 percent of “The Jungle Book” box office sales, but it landed at no. 2.

“Barbershop: The Next Cut” opened this past weekend with $20.2 million. This was met with gratitude with New Line and MGM, although the second installment, “Barbershop 2: Back in Business,” debuted at $24.2 its opening weekend.

According to comScore, here are the estimated box office numbers from Friday through Sunday:

1. “The Jungle Book,” $103.6 million ($136.1 million international).

2. “Barbershop: The Next Cut,” $20.2 million.

3. “The Boss,” $10.2 million ($2.5 million international).

4. “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” $9 million ($15.1 million international).

5. “Zootopia,” $8.2 million ($10.8 million international).

6. “Criminal,” $5.9 million ($2 million international).

7. “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2,” $3.3 million. ($1.3 million international).

8. “Miracles From Heaven,” $1.9 million.

9. “God’s Not Dead 2,” $1.7 million.

10. “Eye in the Sky,” $1.6 million ($1.9 million international).
