The best part of  the 2016 BET Awards was the slew of tribute performances to the late great Prince Rogers Nelson.

At first, when comedian Dave Chappelle introduced The Roots, Erykah Badu and Bilal, it seemed as though the Prince tribute would end after Bilal’s sensual rendition of “The Beautiful Ones.” But not so fast! Throughout the awards show, several artists stepped to the stage to honor the legacy of Prince.

Jennifer Hudson brought the house down with “Purple Rain.” Even Janelle Monae went all out with the signature pants with the buttocks out as she performed a medley of Prince’s hits (“Delirious,” “Kiss,” “Pop Life,” and “I Would Die 4 U”).

In addition to Hudson and Monae, Maxwell took to the stage and sung a soul-stopping performance of “Nothing Compares To U.” Then legendary drummer and Prince’s friend and former band mate, Shelia E., came out with an epic performance of “Housequake” and “Erotic City.”
