The 2016 VMAs were lit last night. Live from Madison Square Garden, every artist that hit the stage gave us more than a lackluster performance. Even Britney Spears, did a decent job in her sparkly yellow one-piece and knee-high boots.

Who sealed the deal, however, was the queen Beyoncé. She performed a collage of her hits from the “Lemonade” album, which lasted about 15-minutes. Our girl Rihanna, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award recipient for 2016, performed several times throughout the show. Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj worked a Soulcycle-inspired set for “Side to Side,” while Future surprised many with a rap performance that wasn’t a yawner like other hip-hop sets tend to be.
