Donald Trump is now the 45th president-elect of the United States. In an early morning final count, Trump garnered 270 electoral votes, which secured his place over Hillary Clinton. The experienced former Secretary of State captured the popular vote, however those shouting “I’m With Her” couldn’t overpower citizens who were eager to “Make America Great Again.”

Who would’ve imagined a real estate tycoon with no prior political or military experience would make it this far?  Over half of the nation is left dumbfounded as Trump is named our next president. His campaign strategy began rocky and without clarity. Trump made promises to build walls to prevent the entry of Mexican’s into the U.S. He has promised to depart millions of immigrants who do not have VISAs or proof of citizenship. The reality television executive producer has made promises to negotiate unsavory deals – which may lead to war – with countries such as Russia and China.

These promises are just the tip of the iceberg. American’s are now patiently waiting to see if Trump stands by his word or operate his presidency with a calm and humane sense of purpose.

In his speech last night, Trump seemed to have a new agenda where his focus is to seal the American divide.

“Now it’s time for America to bind the wounds of division and get together,” he told supporters in New York City. “It is time for us to come together as one united people. I pledge to every citizen of our land that I will be president for all Americans.”

The 70-year-old president elect is a stark contrast to Barack Obama. He’s unpredictable and will likely leave it up to his vice president, Gov. Mike Pence (IN), to make the major policy decisions during his 4-year term.

If Americans believe Trump will come to his senses and be sympathetic to the needs of the people, that’s getting your hopes up high.
