It’s no secret that Nasir Jones aka Nas owed money to the IRS. News of his $6 million tax debt first hit the net in 2011, at which time his wages were garnished from BMI and ASCAP. The remaining debt of $3.5 million was paid in full by Nas last month and now he doesn’t have to be bothered with thoughts of potential jail time.

According to reports, Nas owed back taxes from 2006 to 2010. The IRS filed a $2.5 million tax lien in October 2009, a $3 million lien in February 2010, and added on $514,298 in January 2011. Although the debt has been settled, the state of Georgia claims he still owes $426,000 for income earned in 2007.

Nas’ IRS woes can be added to a long list of hip-hop artists. Rick Ross, T.I., Jermaine Dupri, Nelly and others have been hounded for millions as well by Uncle Sam.
