Quality Control Music announced this week that Migos’ music will now be released through Motown/Capitol Records. QC’s CEO Pierre “Pee” Thomas, COO, Kevin “Coach K” Lee, CMG’s Chairman and CEO Steve Barnett, and Motown Records President Ethiopia Habtemariam met to discuss the deal and its plan to globally take Migos to the next level.

Habtemariam said in a statement, “We are beyond proud and excited to strengthen our relationship with Coach K and Pierre as they bring their franchise players, Migos, under the umbrella of the Quality Control partnership with Motown/Capitol… Less than two years ago, we began our relationship with QC because we believed in them and were aligned in a mission and purpose to propel our culture to a global market—and we are doing just that.”
Lee commented, “Working with Steve, Ethiopia and their whole team has been incredible. Like all of us at Quality Control, they work hard to push their artists’ visions front and center. It’s a creative and proactive alliance that always keeps the goals of QC in mind.”

In addition to this deal, two-thirds of the group, Offset and Takeoff, signed a global publishing deal with Reservoir Media. The group was brought to the company by hip-hop industry veteran Faith Newman, who is the company’s Senior Vice President of A&R and Catalog Development.

“Takeoff and Offset are excited to join forces with Reservoir,” Kevin “Coach K” Lee, of Quality Control Music, tells Billboard. “I’ve personally known Faith for a long time and know how passionate she is about creating new opportunities for artists. Faith and the entire Reservoir team will play a big role in supporting Takeoff and Offset’s global brand.”
