Phil Jackson finally got the boot.

A statement was released on Wednesday revealing that Phil Jackson parted ways as the New York Knicks president. After having led the team absolutely nowhere, according to the statement, Jackson and the organizations has “mutually agreed to part company.”

Jackson’s departure is three years too late for fans. Film director and avid Knicks fan, Spike Lee, summed up everyone’s sentiment with a celebratory Instagram photo that showed him holding up his praise hands.

This announcement came just days after Jackson wanted to trade Carmelo Anthony and hear deals regarding Porzingis. But, Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan flipped the script and removed Jackson from his position.

“After careful thought and consideration, we mutually agreed that the Knicks will be going in a different direction,” Dolan said. “Phil Jackson is one of the most celebrated and successful individuals in the history of the NBA. His legacy in the game of basketball is unmatched.”

Although Jackson is a 11x NBA championship coach, him as an executive failed to live up to the hype. The Knicks was 80-166 in his three full seasons, including a franchise-worst 17-65 in 2014-15.

Phil Jackson had two years left in his contract.
