Artists are capitalizing off of self-service platforms to create avenues in which their music can be heard and earn money.  Digital music distributor, TuneCore, is one of those platforms who offers such service. As of today, artists who use their site have earned more than $937 million in revenue, which is derived off of 75 billion streams and downloads.

“TuneCore is incredibly proud of our artists for reaching such an impactful industry milestone while keeping 100 percent of their earnings through streaming and downloads,” said Scott Ackerman, TuneCore’s CEO. “We are deeply committed to helping our artists maximize their revenue, which is why we are so excited to celebrate as they approach this historic achievement.”

TuneCore’s ability to pull in a $1 billion is based on their distribution side. The company also offers publishing administration and artists services that help secure placements on Apple Music, Spotify, iTunes, etc. Although TuneCore charges an annual fee for these services, it also claims that artists are given 100 percent sales revenue and rights.

There is also a new promotion happening now for existing and new users. Artists can upload a single for global distribution – at no cost – by using the special code “Billion”.
