It’s been 18 years since Xscape has performed as a group. And, the annual Essence Festival was tapped to be the first place in which fans could see the ladies put on a show. The highly-anticipated concert couldn’t come at a better time, being that Kandi Burruss, Tiny Harris, LaTocha Scott, and Tamika Scott just did a great job at the 2017 BET Awards. To their surprise (and also Essence staff), thousands of fans showed up to see the one hour set at the Superdome, but were gagged when Xscape’s show was placed in the “Super Lounge” and not the main stage.

News of angered fans quickly hit social media last night after many bought tickets but couldn’t see Xscape perform. It was reported that the fire marshall prevented people from entering the lounge once capacity was reached. As Xscape was being promoted as one of the premiere acts for this year’s Essence Festival, it was baffling to see the ladies perform on the 3rd floor and not on the stadium’s main stage.

Many are still trying to find out…WHY??

Those that got to see Xscape perform said that they did a great job performing their classic 90’s hits like “Understanding,” “Just Kickin’ It,” and such. However, instead of their performance making headlines, the disappointment of the group’s fans is what made waves on Twitter and Instagram last night.
