During the 10th Anniversary celebration of Atlanta’s Ron Clark Academy, television mogul and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey blessed the middle school with a huge donation.

Oprah Winfrey made an appearance to show her support of the nonprofit academy and startled Ron Clark and guests by announcing she’ll be donating $5 million to the school.

The money will go towards the development of a performing arts academy. As of last night, the school has raised over $7 million from other donors.

Winfrey has been a longstanding supporter of the school. In 2001, founder Ron Clark appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show”. The then talk show host called Clark one of her all-time favorite teachers. She also spoke at the school’s first graduating class in 2010.
