The tragic school shooting on Wednesday has sparked outrage with students, teachers and parents.

To help push Congress to change laws involving guns, the #NationalSchoolWalkout #April20 and #April20Walkout hashtags are increasingly motivating the movement on social media. The official petition calls for “Congress to listen to a population that, for the most part, doesn’t have voting rights.” The details of the petition can be found on change.org.

Prior to April 20, a separate school walkout is planned for March 14 labeled as the “Women’s March Youth.” The walkout will last 17 minutes to honor the 17 victims in the Parkland, Florida shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
